OBJECTIVE
To work and develop my skills and expertise as an Interpreter/Translator within the National Health Service and other Public Community Services, by assisting with effective understanding between clients and service provider professionals.
PROFILE SUMMARY
Keen Interpreter/ Translator with a strong command over English, and Polish (read/write/speak) and 39 years’ hands-on experience within various disciplines of Medicine, with multinational clients-Polish, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian, and recently Romanian.
Versed in providing Polish-English-Polish language Interpretation/Translation in order to facilitate effective communication.
Able to adhere to interpretation standards and conforming to code of ethics.
Hands on experience in providing both written and oral translation and interpretation services between parties, particularly GP visits and occasional home visit for Ante Natal reviews.
Excellent social skills – Ability to work with a wide range of people from various backgrounds, using superb customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of MS Office and other word-processing software.
Interpreting certification.
DUTIES- PERFORMED DURING MY 36 YEARS IN NHS INVOLVING INTERPRETATION/TRANSLATION
- Being present with patients during an examination by the physician or nurse.
- Translating questions from the physician to the patient to grasp an overview of the ailments and complaints.
- Helping the physician by obtaining medical histories and previous medical procedures undergone by the patient.
- Helping patients by explaining the cardinal medical terms and schedule that needs to be followed correctly.
- Assisting the physician and updating medical records by informing the medical staff of anything that is peculiar.
- Explaining hospital policies and procedures to the patients to avoid any mis-communication.
- Helping to successfully provide efficient medical services and convey information to language deficient patients in a cordial and professional manner.
- Serving as a cultural and linguistic resource to both patients and health facility providers
- Understanding the hospital customer care policies and adhering to them strictly.
- Helping in office administration work like answering phones, calling patients to inform them about appointments, document patient checkups, data entry, verification, scheduling of future appointments and so on.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of the medical history of the patients.
